STUDY ABROAD AMBASSADOR (AUG 2024 – APRIL 2025)
As a Study Abroad Ambassador, I helped promote study abroad opportunities at Thompson Rivers University by sharing my knowledge and personal experiences to fellow students. During the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters, the Study Abroad Ambassador team held events and information sessions for students interested in going abroad, weekly information booths, visited classrooms across the university, engaged with the local high schools, and participated in events hosted by the TRU. Through this role, I was able to meet and connect with students from diverse backgrounds and programs, encouraging them to take their university experience to the next level. I shared honest stories about home sicknesses and feeling lonely while also highlighting the friendships and support systems that helped me through those challenges. This position allowed me to give back to my university community and support students as they considered experiences that have truly changed my life.
LULU ISLAND WINERY (MAY 2025 – AUG 2025)
In the summer of 2025, I worked as a Retail Associate at Lulu Island Winery. I led tasting and guided tours for guests from a variety of cultural backgrounds. I regularly assisted with international bus tours from Taiwan, China, and Vietnam, working with groups ranging from 10 to 50 people. These tours required the ability to communicate clearly across language barriers. To support guests during tours, I learned basic Mandarin words and phrases to assist with payments and always had a welcoming smile on my face. This experience strengthened my cross-cultural communication, problem-solving, adaptability in a real-world tourism setting
