APPLYING RESEARCH METHODS

TOURISM RESEARCH ASSISTANT CO-OP (SUMMER 2024)

For the Tourism Mentorship Program, I used mixed methods. I conducted eleven semi-structured qualitative interviews with tourism employers and sent out student surveys to the COOP 1000 course. I designed interview questions, collected data, and followed ethical practices. This gave me hands-on experience using both qualitative and quantitative methods.

GRADUATION SEMINAR (WINTER 2026)

In my seminar research project, I applied research methods to design a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews. I created interview questions and planned how data would be collected and analyzed. Ten Canadian students studying at a university British Columbia who completed a study abroad semester were interviewed.

TOURISM KAMLOOPS PROJECT (WINTER 2026)

I applied qualitative research methods by analyzing film content locations, and visitor experiences to identify patterns and themes. I worked with descriptive information, such as film genres, landscape types, and how locations are portrayed on screen. From this analysis, I identified patterns in how the region is represented, such as its use for apocalyptic, romantic, and adventure settings. I then applied these findings by developing themed itineraries that connect these landscapes to real visitor experiences.
